Develop 10 Tourist Destinations, Bappenas-Fundacion Metropoli sign a MoU

Minister of National Development Planning (PPN/Head of Bappenas), Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro with Founder and Honorary President Fundacion Metropoli, Dr. Alfonso Vegara signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sustainable Joint City and Territory Solutions in Indonesia at the meeting room of the Minister of PPN/Head of Bappenas, Jakarta, (11/1/18).

 

Accompanied by Deputy of Regional Development of the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas, Rudy Soeprihadi Prawiradinata, He said that the cooperation between the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas and Fundacion Metropoli is primarily aimed at developing ten new tourist destinations in Indonesia, such as Bali.

 

 

"The President stressed the importance of regional planning. Currently, we are working to create 10 new Bali. we create a comprehensive and world-class mapping, hopefully with the involvement of Fundacion Metropoli can help Indonesia create a new tourist area that will attract foreign tourists visiting Indonesia, we will start with Bintan," explained Minister Bambang after the signing of the MoU.

 

The five areas of cooperation included in the memorandum of understanding are Knowledge Co-Creation in Urban Solutions, Sustainable Cities and Communities Policy Networking, Joint Fellowship Progamme, Indonesia Future Regional and Cities Lab Alliance, and Piloting Project (Incubation) of Sustainable Cities and Regions Concept.

 

 

Fundacion Metropoli is a Spanish consultant who specializes in urban and regional planning taking into consideration the socio-economic conditions and potential of the region.

 

The award-winning consultant of the United Nations, the European Union and the Council of European Spatial Planners is also adept at designing, visualizing and projecting future regional developments. 

 

"Fundacion Metropoli has a good methodology for designing a region. For that, we are very interested, let alone we have plans to develop 10 tourist destinations. We try to use the same approach, "Deputy Rudy Soeprihadi added.

 

Minister Bambang is very optimistic that this cooperation is successful and not exception to produce tourist areas in Eastern Indonesia. 

 

"Because Fundacion Metropoli has succeeded in making basework for Bintan, it is time to implement more detailed planning. After that, we will start whether to get potential investors or the government will come up with alternative financing schemes," said Minister Bambang. ||awi
